When you are planning on moving to a new location, there is no way that you will not be taking your belongings with you. This means that at some point, you will need to pack and unpack these possessions. You have the option of hiring a professional service whereby someone will come and pack all of your possessions for you. Although this will save you a lot of time, you may find that it works out expensive for you. You may therefore decide to do it all by yourself. However, with so many things to pack, sometimes you just do not know where to begin and how to start. When it comes to packing your items, you need to ensure that you are not packing and unnecessary items such and unwanted items or items that are broken/torn or not needed. After having decided on which items you would like to take with you, it is time to start packing. You need to ensure that you have the right equipment needed to pack your items up properly. The only items that are suitable to be stored and packed into refuse/black bags are items which will not break e.g. duvets, blankets etc. All other remaining items need to be packed into cardboard boxes in order to keep the well protected and safe.
When you start packing, always ensure that you start with items that are not used frequently, since they are not going to be missed. And then your work your way around the rest of the remaining items in terms of their usage frequency.
It is wise to pack items according to the room they belong to. For example, keeping all bedroom items together is going to make the unpacking process a lot easier.
Always keep an inventory or label the boxes directly, so that you know what each box contains. This will also come in handy when it is time to unpack.
When it is time to unpack, always start by unpacking the most frequently used items first, since you will be needed them the soonest. Also, try not to rush and get everything unpacked in a day or a weekend. Allow yourself a sufficient amount of time in order to unpack, and set everything up in your new home.
Another thing to do which will make unpacking significantly easier is to use your inventory list or the labels on boxes to determine what each box contains, and which room of the house these items correspond too. This way, you can unpack box by box, according to the room that the items belong to. This is going to make unpacking easier since you will not be left wandering which room that special vase should be placed in.
Packing and unpacking are by far the most time consuming process where removals are concerned, but they are also two of the most important processes, especially since this involves your precious items.
